2005-07-30 * Good Parenting
Apparently Serena, my niece, clogged the toilet with her enthusiastic use of tp. My sister, seeing the situation, said "Gee is going to be SO mad at you!" since Grandma being mad is obviously much scarier than just having to deal with my sister. After my sister told her what happened, Mom took Serena by the hand. She proceeded to explain how, when you flush a clogged toilet, it can overflow and get poop all over the floor (a little drama never hurts when dealing with a 7-year old). Mom: "Serena, I'm going to flush it." Mom got the plunger, and told Serena to flush while she plunged. Serena: "Mom! Gee wasn't mad at me-- she showed me how to fix the toilet!" Despite knowing how to fix a clog, I have a feeling she will be paying attention to that sign. Is it even possible to learn these kind of preternatural parenting skills by just watching?
