The knight is all embroidered, for a closer look, click here. His lady is nearly done-- the most nerve-wracking part is always the detail in the faces-- I use just one strand of floss and tiny stitches to get it right. Beardsley's illustrations tend to have grim, vacant or downright sinister expressions on their faces, so hopefully I've managed to cheer these up just a bit.
In addition to embroidering, I spent a fair amount of time in the kitchen this weekend. I made scones for a fun potluck brunch on Saturday
Oh how I love that cake stand...
The recipe is wonderful-- they turn out flaky but moist at the same time. I leave out the currants.
And an Indian chicken dish from this book for dinner
I am not sure if you can tell that it was lovely to look at. Unfortunately my sweetie did not care for it at all, though I thought it was pretty yummy. Honestly, this recipe for Butter Chicken (which was posted at Loobylu ages ago) is just as good, and doesn't involve buying the book.
I also had a little crafty accident, which looks like this
Yes, it is a cute little pouch covered in cherries-- I was so happy with it, rushed to put in the snap closure...and put in the fastener backwards, so the little nob faces the inside of the bag. And of course those things are impossible to pry out! After that I decided to go back to my embroidery and leave the sewing alone for a bit.
