Still here, and still "stealth crafting," so not a lot to show (though I'm dying to, and may after the holidays). There are, however, a few things I can share, like this:
I made almond/pecan nougat from the recipe in Martha Stewart Holiday. I am crazy for nougat and all things of a taffy-like consistency, so I had to wrap these up and put them in tins and boxes right away to keep from eating them all(though I did have to test a few to make sure they were ok). The big tin above is for my similarly-sweet-toothed sister, and I gave a box to Toast'n'Candy and her sweetie, who both pronounced the nougat "Delishish"(it was still pretty sticky when I handed it over).
And for the dorky in the title? When I travel somewhere cold, I always choose a clothing "color scheme", either black-based or brown-based, so I only have to bring one pair of boots, one pair of dressy shoes and a pair of walking shoes, all of which will go with my clothes. 'Cause you know, it is the shoes that really add weight to a bag.
Still with me? Well, this Christmas it will be black boots that come with me, and my only black bags are stiff and worky, so I quickly whipped up this
A little "walking around bag" for New York (aka, home)--simple, sturdy, squishable, fun, and will go with my outfits.
And I finished the present tote for my neice too
Taking after the other women in the family, she is already a shrewd shopper, so I'm thinking that in addition to silly treats in the bag, there will be something like this
Another genius and super-cute idea from Martha Stewart Holiday- money origami! In the picture it is my "test buck" but surely a generous aunt must do better than that on the actual day?
My next mission is to figure out what my air travel craft will be. Crochet is calling out to me, especially projects like this and this. However, it seems silly to buy new yarn for projects meant to use up "yarn leftovers," so I'll have to take some more time to examine my stash and think about it...
