2006-02-15 * Love is in the Air (and the mail)

Yes, yes, I know that Valentine's Day was yesterday, but I didn't get a chance to share all the love that has been in the air (and in the post!) for me lately. And it is never too late to do that!

Above are the flowers my sweetie brought me on Monday night-- I am particularly mad about ranunculus, and that pied orange has me feeling swoony.

And oh my goodness has my mail been fabulous lately too. First from the amazing Alicia, whose blog I stalk religiously, the most magical little package:

This little bird keeps me chipper at work in my cube, with its bright eyes and inquisitive expression. She still doesn't have a name, but I'm working on it. Any ideas?

In the background you can see a few other pieces of office inspiration in the form of prints by Penelope and Susie. I'm waiting with baited breath for a piece I ordered from Eireann, although that may end up living at home with me.

Oh, I'm babbling, yes? Well, I also got the most wonderful gifts in the mail from my oldest and best friends. One being my mother:

No one has more inspired or encouraged my creativity than my mom. In fine form, she sent me some lovely Dover books, romantic dice (tee hee) and the best sponges ever that are not only fish-shaped, but hang from the kitchen sink spigot so they can air dry! You may also be able to tell that my mother passed along her joy in clever kinds of everyday things.

And from my oldest friend Lauren, bliss in a box:

Yes, you see that right-- chocolate, books and COFFEE (in the form of a lovely pink Starbucks card). Basically I could tuck myself away with that gift and not be seen or heard from (except by baristas) for at least a week or two.

But I am going to try to pace myself.
