2007-03-21 * In The Garden...

In honor of the first day of spring, I present the plants on my terrace!

You all may remember Rosie

She is going strong--replanted into a bigger pot and stretching her leaves for spring! She seems to have transitioned from orange-tipped to full-yellow flowers too, interesting.

And could it be?

It is! The first buds have appeared on the nasturtiums that I planted this winter, by just pushing the little seeds down in the soil of my already-occupied pots. Looks like this one will be yellow too. I was really hoping for orange, but maybe one of the other plants will be.

And the plant I call "The Lazarus Jasmine," since its miraculous recovery from complete brown-stickness is also about to bloom:

Yes, that's the sky you see behind it, because its single, sturdy vine has grown about 6 feet tall. I'll have to train the ends around the trellis since they're beginning to blow in the wind a bit.

All of this growing reminds me that it is time to plant more seeds! Since the growing season here is nice and long, I'm not worried that it is too late. I've got sweet peas (my very favorite flowers), and morning glories. So I need two more pots (the rectangular kind) and a bag or so of potting soil, then I'm ready to go.
