2006-03-01 * Tea and Fantasy
At the very back of my tea cupboard, they were tucked away for "special occasions". They are part of what I can only imagine was a larger Brambly Hedge "Collection"-- each represents a different season, and I do remember that they each came with a little story book about the mice depicted on them. If only I still had those! I received them as a child, from friends of our family who lived in England. The peanutbutter is Trader Joe's, creamy & salted, my latest favorite food of all foods (well, except perhaps a pain au chocolat). Now for the fantasy part of the post--I've been thinking today about how much I would love to be able to write and craft full-time. I crave the daily doses of the lovely life of a full-time artist/crafter that I get from people like Jane, Alicia and Claire. Alicia's post about the troubles attendant even on the life that comes with following one's passion was a tiny dose of reality, but one that made me admire her even more, for the way she focuses so much on the joys, large and small, and shares her infectious inspiration. Despite not being full-time, or even daily, for me blogging is a chance to focus on the whimsical, the artistic, the funny, the transcendant and the wonderfully peculiar in life, and tune out all of the other noise. The hope being that the more I focus on it, the more there will be- something like keeping only the things I love, and letting go of the rest.
