2006-09-26 * Skirting the Issue I've bounced back amazingly quickly from my sniffles. Lesson being that a day of black and white movies and crochet is better than chicken soup. To make up for lost time, today I made a skirt based on one of my favorites in my closet It is lined and closes with an invisible zipper in the back. I still have to hem it and topstitch the lining and skirt together at the waist, but it will be officially finished before the day is over. I've never tried making something from an existing article of clothing, and am pleasantly surprised that tracing a skirt that fits perfectly (albeit a very simple one) so easily made an equally perfect new pattern! I also made pumpkin muffins per the recipe over at Thimble but I used mini muffin tins because I only have one, 6-cup big muffin tin and a lovely bunch of mini ones. I love this recipe and recommend it, even though, having multiple parts, it makes a lot more mess than you'd think. It also makes way more muffins, large or small, than any two people could eat in the time they are still fresh. It seems to me that all baked good recipes are designed for families with 10 hungry children with sweet tooths (sweet teeth? whatever). There are so many books about "cooking for one", I wonder if there are any that include baking recipes for just one or two people. Anyway, now I have to find a pre-school birthday party to crash, or someone to give a gross of tiny, tasty muffins!
