2006-08-24 * Cooking and Quills The extremely exciting news of the day is that my dear friend Lauren's latest book The Masque of the Black Tulip was nominated for a Quill Award! Scroll down to the Romance category to see. Plus, her upcoming novel The Deception of the Emerald Ring got a glowing Publishers Weekly review. Huzzah! She is a fabulous writer and if you haven't read her books, you must. Not much crafting going on today, though I have been cooking a fair amount- I made a zucchini and pancetta risotto for dinner last night which slurped up way more liquid than it was supposed before the rice went from crunchy to creamy. And I just assembled and put this recipe in the refrigerator in preparation for brunch tomorrow morning with my friend Sabrina and her baby girl. It was rather a lot of chopping and grating, so I hope it is yummy! We are also having friends over for brunch on Saturday, at which point I plan to make the Caramel Pecan waffles from this book. I think also mimosas and bellinis and lots of fruit, and perhaps leftover Strata if there is any (and since Sabrina and I are only two people, and I don't think the baby eats solid food yet, it is likely there will be some)to add some protein to the sweet feast.
