So, just a quick one today- I cut down the shirt pattern I used awhile back, and added some tissue paper to lengthen it into a dress:

We don't have a full-length mirror, so you can't see the bottom, and I had to tie a sash around the waist so it didn't just hang like a sack.

Truthfully? The picture makes it look almost cute, and it does fit better than the first shirt effort, but the effect is so very muu muu in real life that I think it will have to be either a nightie or a bathing suit cover-up rather than a dress. Sigh.

I am happy with the sweet puffed sleeves, though, and I think if made into another top, it will be the proper size. This pattern came to my attention through The Small Object, who found out about it over at SouleMama. There are so many great patterns that crafty bloggers are inspiring me to try! Like Alicia's Thimble Summer Dress and oh my goodness this dress over at Angry Chicken But my eyes are bigger than my stomach when it comes to consuming patterns, and more often than not I buy them, go so far as to cut them out in my size and then feel overwhelmed, fold them back up (an exercise in futility) and put them away for "later." But hope springs eternal! I've got a Joann gift certificate so maybe...
