2006-05-01 * Mmmmmango!

Happy May Day!

Quite appropriately my lady is all embroidered- the Queen of the May. Though I have bagfuls of floss skeins, of course I only had two strands of the green color I liked best for these. So the lady's face is a slightly lighter color, as are some locks of her hair, and her sleeves. You can see it all more closely by clicking here

Today was an exciting day for mail-- the t-shirt I ordered from Eireann at bara arrived (really almost instantly), packaged absolutely charmingly, as you see

I can't wait to wear it!

This morning I returned to my early morning routine. Typically after the gym I get a cappuccino at the little crepe place in the Citicorp Center colonnade. The woman who makes the espresso drinks is taciturn, and despite my going there at least four days a week for months on end, I was never certain if she remembered me or my order. Well! Today she said "Oh hello! I haven't seen you in awhile, where have you been?" and proceeded to ask if I worked in the building. When I told her that I go to the gym there, she informed me that members get ten percent off-- so my already reasonable cappuccino went from 2.00 to 1.80! Hurrah. It was not the 20 cents that gave me a happy warm feeling, but that my coffee lady noticed I had been gone.

In other rambly news, I made myself my favorite, much- tastier-than-it-should-be-for-something-relatively-guilt-free treat after dinner. It sounds like a mango lassi, but in fact it is more like amazing, thick mango ice cream (it is in a glass but I eat it with a spoon).

I can't guarantee the proper results if you don't use the ingredients below:
Trader Joe's Frozen Mango Chunks
Total Yogurt 0% fat
2% milk

Place 8-10 mango chunks in either your blender bowl or the cylinder that came with your immersion blender. Let them thaw for 5 minutes or so- if you can nick one a little, they're ready. Empty the small container of Total yogurt on top of them, then add about half a cup of milk. Either blend or churn with your immersion blender until it is a lovely, creamy yellow and smooth without being runny. It may sound like your blender is suffering, but I promise it will be ok. Pour into a happy glass or bowl and eat with a spoon.

Also, am I the only one totally thrilled that Lifetime is showing Unsolved Mysteries again?!
