2005-07-26 * Literary Namedropper

View from the VIP Balcony vip balcony Last night's Litquake benefit at Haight Street eatery RNM was a virtual who's who of San Francisco Literati. My friend Jen and I took full advantage of the situation, shooting oysters with the charming Daniel Handler (aka Lemony Snicket), chatting with Mary Roach about her upcoming book, Spooked (a look at scientific explorations into the afterlife) and eavesdropping on Po Bronson and Ann Packer(who, shame on her, was not at home watching last night's debut of The Lifetime Original Movie of her bestseller The Dive from Clausen's Pier). But the real stars of the event were Amy Tan's darling toy yorkies, Bubba and Lily, who emerged briefly from their chic Louis Vuitton sac chien to meet and lick their fans. What could be better?
