Voila!

Unfortunately my preferred photographer was not available, so you have to see it on a hanger. oooh! edit-- i figured out the timer function on my camera, so here is the dress on:

The photo doesn't seem to be reproducing color, so I'll tell you that the binding around the arms and neck is a brighter purple than it looks. And the fabric at the bottom is Japanese home-decor weight cotton I got at Purl patchwork and have used so far for making bias tape bags (with the purple bias tape. see? it all comes together).

I'm very happy with it. The fit is still not quite what I would like, but overall I think it is pretty cute and I will wear it happily. I still have to hem it, fiddle with some seams, trim threads and run an iron over it, but I had to share it as soon as it was done-ish!

Oh and since the same dress doesn't really deserve another post, I'll update you. I took the dress for a test drive in the cute shops in my neighborhood because
A: I don't have a full-length mirror so I'm not sure how it actually looks on and
B: I secretly hoped someone would say "cute dress" (Girls are nice about these things in my neighborhood in San Francisco)
And I had success! Not only did I get to check it out in the thin mirrors at Margaret O'Leary, then again in the more real mirrors at Her, the chic modely saleswoman at Jigsaw said "Cute dress!" So, fall dress 2.0 a success, and I'll be wearing it out tonight (Friday)
