My trip back to California from New England was a total farce. In case you've never seen it, and I never thought I would, here is the terminal of the Columbia, SC airport:

Was Columbia part of my flight plan? Nope. The good news was that my connection in Atlanta to Oakland was delayed a full FOUR hours, meaning that after the detour to Columbia, sitting on the runway for an hour, then taking off and circling Atlanta for an hour before landing, I still managed to catch my original connection! Hooray.

And proof that there is always an upside for someone in every situation, the people who had planned connections from Atlanta to Greensboro or Charleston were able to get off in Columbia.
